Coach Garnett is entering his first season at Flowery Branch High School. This will be his 21st season as a Head Varsity Coach and his 23rd year of coaching and teaching. He was previously at Hebron Christian Academy where his boys' teams went 31-22-4 over his 3 years there. While there, he guided them to one Region Championship and an appearance in the Final 4 in 2017. His 2016 and 2018 teams both reached the 2nd round of the GHSA playoffs. While at HCA, Coach Garnett also coached the Girls Varsity team in 2018 where his team won the region and reached the 2nd round of the playoffs. Prior to HCA, he spent 9 years at Mill Creek High School where his teams went 67-26-1, including a State Runner-up finish and a final national ranking of 18th in 2014. Before Mill Creek, Garnett was at Gainesville High School from 2002-2006 where his teams went 68-24-5, with appearances in the State Final 4 and Quarterfinals. Before moving to Georgia in 2002, Coach Garnett was the Head Boys Coach of his alma mater, Davie High School, for 3 seasons. Coming into this season, his overall boys high school record is 215-144-14. Throughout his career, he has received Region Coach of the Year 5 times, one Gwinnett Goal Club Coach of the Year for large schools, and one State Coach of the Year Award. He holds his National Coaching Diploma for the United Soccer Coaches - formerly the NSCAA. He currently coaches the 2008 Academy Girls at GSA-North and prior to GSA he coached for many years at LSA and DSC. Garnett graduated from Appalachian State University with a Physical Education degree and played Division 1 soccer there from 1991-1995. He received his Masters from Ball State University in Physical Education with a Concentration in Coaching in 2009. Coach Garnett is married to Amy and they have 2 sons and a daughter, Kyle (18), Max (15), and Gabby (8).
